The Shakti Design Residency is a first-of-its-kind programme that bridges Indian artisanship and global design.
The programme welcomes submissions from global designers who are actively engaged with material exploration and sustainable practices, and demonstrate a keen interest in exploring the relationship between heritage crafts and contemporary design. The selected designers are then twinned with some of India’s most respected ateliers to develop and produce new work. This timely and forward thinking programme founded by the designer Shalini Misra encourages a much needed mindset of continuity of knowledge.
Forth co-director, Professor Daniel Charny, is one of the eight designers, curators, educators, gallerists and entrepreneurs who make up the Shakti Design Residency jury announced for 2025. He will join Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte; Valentina Ciuffi; Tarini Jindal Handa; Oliver Jahn; Jen Roberts and Kulapat Yantrasast.
